Help & FAQ

How to track your book collection with Slipcased.

What is Slipcased, and who is it for?

Slipcased is a personal tracking tool for special-edition and collectible books. It's for collectors who chase specific editions, variants, and signed printings and want one calm place to see what they own, what they're hunting, and what's on the way — instead of spreadsheets and screenshots.

It's a private tracking tool first, not a marketplace: the job is keeping your own shelf accurate, with sharing available when you want it.

How do I add a book to my collection?

Find the edition you want in the Catalog or on a Series page, open it, and set a status — want, pre-ordered, own, or passed. That single choice files it onto the matching shelf under My Collection. As you browse your own lists, a quick-add bar lets you log editions without leaving the page.

Changing an entry's status later just moves it between shelves — mark a pre-order 'own' when it arrives, or 'passed' if you decide against it.

How do I track different editions or variants of the same book?

Slipcased treats every collectible edition as its own entry, so the FairyLoot, Illumicrate, and signed first printings of one title are tracked separately. Open a book from its Series or Catalog page to see its editions, then set a status on each variant you own, want, or have pre-ordered.

Because each edition is distinct, your shelf shows exactly which printing you have — not just the title — which is the whole point for special-edition collecting.

What do ISO and UFT mean?

ISO means "in search of" — the editions you're actively hunting, your want list. UFT means "up for trade" — books you own and have listed, for trade or for sale. Each is its own shelf under My Collection, and you can share either as a read-only link so others can help or make a deal.

UFT is a flag on something you own, not a separate status: mark an owned book for trade or for sale and it appears on your UFT shelf, with its condition and asking price if you set one. The shelf (and a shared trade list) covers both — the acronym is just what collectors call it.

How do I share my shelf?

Open a list — your collection, ISO hunt, or UFT trade shelf — and tap Share. Slipcased creates a read-only link at slipcased.com/s/… that anyone can open without an account, showing just that list. Manage or revoke your links anytime in Settings; revoking rotates the link so the old one stops working.

A shared link is a live view of that one list and nothing else — the rest of your account stays private. Removing a link retires it entirely; your own items are never affected either way.

Can I add my own photos of a book?

A book's picture is always its official cover from the shared catalog, so there's nothing to upload. The one exception is a book that isn't in the catalog yet: you can paste or drop a single identification cover onto its row to tell it apart. Link it later and the official cover takes over.

Any identification cover you add lives in a private bucket and is only ever served through short-lived signed links — never publicly browsable or used in link previews. It shows only on a list you deliberately choose to share. Social previews for a shared list always use the public catalog cover art.

How do I follow a company or box?

Open a company's page and tap Follow to put its new drops on your radar. Following is free and works for any company, even pure publishers with no boxes. Subscribing is different — it marks the subscription boxes you actually pay for, which you manage from My Boxes. Follow is your radar; Subscribed is your billing.

A company page reads as a timeline of drops, so following is how you keep an eye on releases without committing to a subscription.

How do I delete my account or data?

You can delete your account yourself, anytime, from Settings → Delete account. It permanently removes your account and everything tied to it — your collection, lists, and uploads. You can also delete individual entries as you go, and revoke any shared links, from Settings.

Deleting your account is immediate and can't be undone. Prefer to ask a human first? Email support@slipcased.com.
